It is not necessary, but highly recommended.

Tracking the history of an item is vital whenever there is an issue with it. That history starts where from where it was created, which is the SellerChamp manifest.

Since the manifests don't take up very much space on the system, they can be moved into folders for future reference.

Again, it's not required, but definitely recommended.
