Every item in Amazon's catalog has an ASIN associated with it. 

ASIN stand for Amazon Standard Identification Number. It's a 10-character alphanumeric unique identifier that is assigned by Amazon.com and its partners. It's used for product-identification within Amazon.com organization. 

For items with no ASIN one can attempt to be created in Seller Central. This can be a lengthy process at times, requiring approval. In most cases users select to take those items not found in the catalog and list them elsewhere, like eBay, Shopify and so forth.
